Margin + More = Kingdom

Our Pastor is dedicating time to expand our minds and strength our belief in the area of blessing, prosperity and most recently, the Prayer of Jabez.

Ironic. Right? The girl who has been working on creating margin (less) is now asking for more? I wrote this journal entry back on Jan 14th… a full week before my Pastor preached on Jabez.

153114A6-6ECC-4BD6-9B9B-6B1A8E736EA4The Lord was already revealing that the POINT of margin is not really just about having extra  time, money, and cushion for comfort sake, but rather…

It’s about learning how to decrease so HE can increase (John 3:30).

Being prepared to receive more, creating capacity because we know – His blessings don’t create hardship! (Proverbs 10:22)

He needs us to reduce some of the muck to make room for the good stuff! Margin is positioning to have room to receive more! Kingdom purpose. Kingdom prosperity! More encouragement and more salvations. More ministry, and yes, more money.

I can’t be used effectively if I am tapped out, stressed out, over committed, unhealthy and mindlessly giving my excess attention to my lowest priority.  I am peeling back what doesn’t really matter, so I can make room for what matters most.

My time, attention, money, energy, capacity,  and abilities are all limited. While I serve a God of unlimited resources, He isn’t necessarily going give me “more” until I am efficient with what I waste now. Yes, it’s my long term intention to continue to create and protect margin. While at the same time, consistent choices to align my priorities correctly, stablized me enough so I can pray for more.

As a church, we are excited to be reading the book “Prayer of Jabez” by Bruce Wilkinson… It’s not a new prayer, it just a now Word for us. As a church, we are responding to the prompting and leadership of our Pastor. For those willing to receive, we are jumping in full faith!  We are reading and studying the book, and also praying II Chronicles daily.91F62BC1-F4DC-4688-85B1-97B378F11632

We are watching for the evidence of:

1) More blessing!!!

2) Expanded ministry opportunity, expanded prosperity, expanded influence.

3) God’s favor, guidance, wisdom, insight.

4) Divine protection from weak thinking that contradicts the Word of God, sin, temptation, and harm.

It feels like this is leading somewhere. I may see it first in my personal life. More peace in my home because I have time to joyfully keep my house in order. We have less tensions because we have more money, which allows us to be available to enjoy giving. I am well rested and emotionally refreshed. I am ready to be available for the little moments that matter most … as a wife, a mom and friend.

Sure, someday this process may prove to have been preparation for something bigger. I hope so. I believe it is. But, right now, I am good with this journey. Obedience is a beautiful and powerful thing.

It really can be reduced to this passage. Let’s just place our  lives before God… Romans 12:1-2 “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” -Message Translation
